SUPERIOR SERVICE - HERE'S WHY
Paul started as a technician 30 years ago for a local adaptive equipment dealer who was a pioneer in the industry. In a few years Paul worked up to be the Shop Foreman. These were the years when major structural vehicle modifications were the order of the day. Paul collected 15 years of experience with this dealer while selling and repairing scooters on his own. Here, Paul also learned the importance of training by constantly attending manufacturer's service schools and abiding by standards established by various industry associations. In 1997 the opportunity arose for Paul to open his own shop. He began with adaptive driving equipment and later added personal mobility devices due to customer demand. Paul has been and continues to be a "hands-on" owner, continuing to attend service schools for all equipment supplied.
Paul still understands the importance of membership in national industry associations which emphasize quality and ethics. AVM is a Quality Assurance Member of the National Associations of Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. This level of membership requires not only additional dues but sets higher levels of standards and ethics plus requires semi-annual audits by a third party inspection. No higher standards currently exist for the adaptive equipment industry. Visit www.NMEDA.org to learn more. FIADA - Florida Independent Automotive Dealers Association AVM is a member of the National and Florida Independent Dealers Association the nation's oldest and most respected association for independent car dealers. Paul has attended the national conference and annually attends Florida's conference. To learn more visit www.fiada.com. The Joint Commission for
Accreditation of Health Agencies
AVM is accredited by The Joint Commission. This is the same national organization which accredits hospitals and other health care facilities. Accreditation by The Joint Commission is a continuing processing involving many standards and on going documented staff education programs. AVM is subject to unannounced audits at any time but at least once every 3 years. Visit www.jointcommission.org to learn more. Now, on to the letters Paul has earned the right to attach to the end of his name. The first one is ATP which stands for Assistive Technology Professional. This credential is issued by RESNA, The Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America. RESNA's ATP Certification recognizes professionals who have reached an internationally accepted standard of knowledge in assistive technology. ATP's must follow a strict Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The certification process includes work/education eligibility, the passing of a 200-item examination, and an on-going commitment to practice at the highest ethical standard in the field of assistive technology. Visit www.resna.org to learn more. The second set of letters, CRTS®, is issued by NRRTS, the National Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers, first of all requires the ATP credential above plus membership in NRRTS for at least 2 years. In addition, 15 hours of documented continued professional education is required each year. Visit www.nrrts.org to learn more. A Special Calling The above gives AVM the ability to give the best service but the most important reason is because of Paul's opinion that what he and AVM does, simply put, is a special calling to help.
